SALASAR GOSHALA

Gaushalas or Goshalas (Hindi: गौशाला) are protective shelters for cows in India. Goshalas focus on treating cows well, because of their religious significance in Hinduism and consequent cultural sensitivity towards their welfare.

There are so many cow shelters in India where cows are worshiped in so many different ways , but SALASAR GOSHALA has something different that caught my attention. It was established on 23 July 1998. While keeping more than 1000 cows , they have a hospital that treats not only cows but also animals that are abandoned by someone or are just roadside ones. After their treatment they keep them in goshala itself and are properly taken care of.

All the animals are served with the food that is made from the plant which was set up a couple years back. All animals get RO water from their own Ro plant. They also , very impressively have settled up a plant to make bio gas out of cow dung. This step truly means so much to nature. Eco friendly living should be practiced by every human being on this beautiful plant to maintain its beauty and secure resources for the coming generations.

There is also a temple of lord Krishna , as according to Hindu holy scriptures – Lord Krishna loved cows and during his childhood days he used to spend most of his time around cows. Recently they’ve made a BIRD FEEDING HOME , that is tall enough that no cats/ dogs could reach there , and it has 7 floors which can contain 100 birds each. Isn’t that great ?



When we visited there Mr. Ravishankar pujari welcomed us , made us feed cows , we also worshiped a cow (which they believe is the most spiritual one). After that we spent a couple of hours with other animals and birds , feeding them , taking pictures , watching the mesmerizing sunset.

They organize so many welfare programs over the year like, vraksharopan(वृक्षारोपण) / bhudaan (भूदान) and gaaygod abhiyan (गाय गोद अभियान) / janmashtami or different Hindu festivals are also celebrated there. Recently they organised yoga centre for senior citizens mainly to make everyone aware what yoga does and how it helps to make our lifestyle better.

This organization works in public welfare and they are saving nature in so many different ways. In our regular and busy lives we can’t put all these efforts and time to work so much in favor of nature. But here’s a deal , we can serve our part for nature from our homes. How ? You may ask.
